Manfred von Ardenne was quite aware that excellent results could only be obtained if excellent staff was available. Even under the most difficult circumstances he followed this ideal when assessing the abilities of, in particular, leading members of his staff.

Upon deciding on personnel to be hired, he always layed emphasis not only on professional competence, but also on the ability to integrate into the team. He who was able to "fuse with the existing core" could feel confident about promotion and loyalty. Loyalty was answered by loyalty in all circumstances.
