Exactly 100 years ago technical pioneer and inventor Manfred von Ardenne was born. It is on this occasion that we recount 12 episodes of the life of the founder and namesgiver of the company whose mentality and innovative strength we still feel obliged to.

Manfred von Ardenne - a "problematic" student

 ... preparatory activities for the experiments conducted every afternoon and evening were more and more shifted towards the time of his lessons. Unsatisfactory performances in several school subjects were the forseeable result thereof. As the risk became imminent that he had to stay down again, he left the "Friedrich-Realgymnasium" after the "Prima" grade (ninth form of a German secondary school) in September 1923 to work as an intern at a precision mechanical workshop. He would profit from the mechnical skills obtained during this practical training during the rest of his life. As from 1924 he made a living from own means.
