01.09.2007 - Manfred von Ardenne Festive Colloquium on the occasion of his 100th birthday
In 2007,VON ARDENNE Anlagentechnik GmbH commemorates the 100th birthday of its founders and namesgiver Manfred von Ardenne. On this occasion an International Festive Colloquium will be held with business partners and customers on 10 September 2007 at Lingnerschloss Castle in Dresden.
"The video will not gain foothold in whatever market it enters longer than half a year. People will soon be fed up with staring at a plywood box evening by evening.“, Daryl F. Zanuck, Director of the 20th Century Fox film studios, said in 1946 about television, named ‚video’ at that time. The vision of our founder and namesgiver Manfred von Ardenne certainly was a different one when he at the age of 23 for the first time ever succeeded to broadcast several items on television. In August 1931, visitors to the Berlin Radio Show could experience the first television broadcast live. Manfred von Ardenne later sets further milestones in television engineering, electron microscopy, in vacuum process technology with its manifold applications, in biomedical engineering and finally in cancer research which changed life lastingly.
„Visions of state-of-the-art of the year 2000“, was the title of the film broadcast by central German station ‘Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk’ in 1963 in which Manfred von Ardenne depicted his ideas about future technologies. It is quite estonishing and suprising for us to see what has become true of it. On Monday, 10 September, well-known scientists will present in an informative show today’s state-of-the-art of these future technologies.
Even Prof. Manfred von Ardenne even will get a word in edgewise. What is more, the well-known German actors Josephine Hoppe und Dieter Mann will join the audiance.
